As the first month of the new year fades into distance memory, I thought it time to offer an update. So much has been happening since the holidays, and I feel I have neglected those of you that have been most loyal. My apologies for being away.
The holidays were bittersweet, but for the most part I had a wonderful time with close friends. There were about 25 of us all gathered for dinner, drinks and great conversations. It was a night to mingle and I made some fun connections. I discovered that breaking from tradition was not only necessary for my well-being, but rather comforting and free from that sense of obligation that comes when you do the same every year all your life. It was time for change from the usual routine of the holidays, including a setting of boundaries, and unfortunately, it no doubt disappointed some people that I chose not to be present with those that have never, nor will ever, support my creative pursuits.
My creative projects have taken on a new life, and I feel recharged and completely in tune with my intuitive heART. :)
Even today I made a flash decision, and followed that hunch. I will be keeping all print editions of my books on Lulu, and reassigned the ebooks to Amazon. I know, I know…my rants of the past…they can be found in the Archives of this post. This decision was based on two things: 1) Lulu doesn’t have an easy format for creating ebooks and has distribution requirements (not choices) and 2) Amazon has KDP, which was easier in uploading, but I still ran into certain manipulations of their own in royalty payment and territorial rights. I’m going to let it ride…as I grit my teeth.
Additionally, I have joined Fine Art America and sharing my small, but growing photography portfolio. Eventually, I will be adding my watercolor paintings and perhaps some glass painting that I enjoy doing. I am seeking a new home with an extra room to which I will build a studio. It will not be located in Chicago. I am headed in quite another direction in 2015. It is an exciting time for me and I am enjoying the ride.
What does this mean for writing? It is on hold. I will be focusing on this blog and my artwork. I will post new poetry and other writing as Spirit moves me to do so.
I hope you will continue to join me on the journey, this blessed path I step foot upon 4 years ago this month, and we shall see where it all leads.
Namaste, my dearest friends and readers.
Blessings to you & yours for the year ahead.
