The Only Way Back

There were no words then,

only tears, unimaginable despair

every piece of Being seemingly destroyed

blinded, I could not see the Sun,

clouds mocked fleeting moments of release,

the silence – deafening.

the disappearance of him – a little death.

Anger would rise and fall, tripping me,

endless bouts of restless sleep –

slumber had escaped in defiance

of all possible truths,

none of them true.

no Peace of Soul,

upheaval of a Life

then wracked with pain

insurmountable

as days became months,

years passing

void of light, existence unresolved.

no solution to be rendered

only  torment within turning it over

to Fate,

yet, forgiveness muted

was the only way back to Us.
