NaPoWriMo 2013, Poetry, Structured Poetic Form

Tainted

In the still of blue midnight
after Spring’s first chilled rainfall,
the moon is full in its spirited light
it illuminates her sheltered heart’s squall.

Stars shine down in graceful beams
embracing her violet eyes in tears,
standing upon a river of broken dreams
she treads the current of forgotten years.

Nightbirds sang harmonious lullabies
one thousand nights alone she slumbered,
enlightened rest as absent as his alibies
her moonlit love which he blindly encumbered.
